Cafe & bakery · concept build
Cedar & Stone
Concept build. Cedar & Stone is a fictional business. This is the site we would build for one like it — the brief is invented, the work is real.
A twenty-cover cafe and bakery whose morning trade lives or dies on whether people can see the menu and order ahead before they leave the house.
The problem we designed for
Cafe sites often open on a slideshow of the interior and hide the menu behind a PDF link. A PDF on a phone is a pinch-and-zoom exercise, and the order-ahead system they link to is often a separate branded portal that asks people to start again somewhere else.
What we decided
01
The menu is the homepage
Priced rows in plain HTML, readable at arm’s length, indexed by search engines. No PDF, no carousel in front of it.
02
Order-ahead in the fold
A single pinned bar with the cut-off time on it. Urgency is real here, and stating it plainly respects it more than a softer call to action would.
03
Baking times, not stock photos
What comes out of the oven and when. It is the one thing regulars check, and few cafes publish it.
